A Purple Heart Ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 23, in Walnut Park, Fourth and D streets. Stories will be shared about local men who died in combat in the Korean and Vietnam wars and city and state representatives will be on hand to recognize this designation. All are welcome to attend, particularly veterans.

Petaluma’s annual Memorial Day event, honoring all veterans, starts at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26 in Cypress Hill Memorial Park, 430 Magnolia Ave. The ceremony includes the traditional Avenue of the Flags and appearances by guest speakers, members of the City Council, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagle Scouts and a Color Guard. The event is free and all are welcome.
