Petaluma’s Pacific Empire Chorus, part of Sweet Adelines International, took first place in the Pacific Shores Region 12 chorus contest held in Reno in late April.
Eighteen choruses competed in the annual competition, with the chorus coming in first in the mid-size chorus division.  The win sets up the possibility for  members to compete in the international contest later this year.
In addition to the chorus win, Surprise!, a quartet  drawn from Chorus singers, won second place overall in the regional quartet competition.
Petaluma Empire Chorus draws members from the Bay Area and as far away as Auburn. Interested women are invited to visit  rehearsals at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the First Presbyterian Church, 939 B St.  Visit pacificempire.org.
