ConKerr Cancer, a nationwide nonprofit, makes colorful, cheery pillowcases for children who have cancer or another life-altering disease.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the local group hosts its annual Miles of Pillowcases Smiles, a pillowcase sewathon, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 939 B St., Petaluma.

Instructions will be provided. Fabric cutters are welcomed as well, as are people to iron the pillowcases. The group can also use donations of children’s fabrics.

Lunch and snacks will be provided to the stitchers, cutters, ironers and others who turn out to help.
